What we keep — and what we don't.
CatPoke is a camera app for photographing and cataloguing stray cats. Your collection lives on your device. Here's what leaves it.
What we collect
- Camera photos. When you photograph a cat, the image is compressed and sent to OpenAI's API to identify the breed, color, and estimated age. The photo is not stored on our servers — OpenAI processes it and returns the result. OpenAI's data handling is governed by their privacy policy.
- Location. When you catch a cat, your approximate GPS coordinates are saved locally on your device to place cats on your personal map. Location data never leaves your device unless you explicitly share it.
- Purchase information. Subscription purchases are handled by RevenueCat. We receive a purchase status (active / inactive) — we never see your payment details. RevenueCat's policy applies: revenuecat.com/privacy.
- App usage. We do not currently collect analytics or crash reports beyond what Apple provides through App Store Connect.
What we never collect
- We don't create user accounts or store any personal information on our servers.
- We don't read your photo library, contacts, or any data beyond what you explicitly share in-app.
- We don't show ads, build ad profiles, or share your data with advertisers.
- We don't sell or rent your data to anyone.
Where your data lives
Your cat collection (photos, names, locations, stats) is stored locally on your iPhone using SwiftData. It is not synced to any cloud service. If you delete the app, all data is permanently removed.
