What we keep — and what we don't.

What we collect

• Cat photos for identification. When you catch a cat, a compressed copy of the photo is sent through our server to OpenAI's API to identify the breed, coat and approximate age. We don't keep that copy. OpenAI's handling is governed by their privacy policy.
• Your player profile. To run the leaderboard, the app signs you in anonymously (no email, no password) and stores a player profile: your username, avatar, XP, level, weekly XP, number of cats caught, Pro status and Pro cosmetics, and the numbers of the cats in your collection.
• Cat pictures you show other players. Small images of the cats in your collection, and of your profile picture if you pick a cat as your avatar, are stored on our image server so other players can view your Catydex and profile.
• Location. When you catch a cat, its GPS position is saved on your device to place it on your personal map. Your map and exact locations are visible only to you and are not uploaded. If you turn on Share breed sightings, the app sends the breed plus a rounded area of roughly 100 meters, never your exact position, never your name. These areas can appear to other players with Pro about an hour after your catch, on a map of breed sightings. You can turn this off in Settings at any time.
• Photos from your library. Only if you use Catch from your gallery, and only the photo you pick. We read its capture date (to accept recent photos only) and its location (to place the cat on your map).
• Invites, reports and blocks. If you redeem a friend's code, we record the referral. If you report a profile, we store the report for review.
• App usage analytics. We use Mixpanel (EU servers) to understand how the app is used, for example which screens are opened and whether a catch succeeded. We don't send your photos, your name or your exact location to Mixpanel.
• Purchase information. Subscriptions are handled by Apple and RevenueCat. We receive whether your subscription is active, never your payment details. revenuecat.com/privacy

What we never do

• We don't ask for your name, email or phone number.
• We don't publish exact cat or player locations.
• We don't show ads, build ad profiles, or share your data with advertisers.
• We don't sell or rent your data to anyone.

Where your data lives

Your full collection (original photos, names, exact locations, stats) is stored on your iPhone. Your player profile, leaderboard data, invites, reports and shared breed sightings are stored with Supabase. Cat images for your public Catydex are stored on Cloudflare R2.

Deleting your data: Settings → Delete account removes your player profile, leaderboard entry, images, invites and breed sightings from our servers. Deleting the app removes everything stored on your device.

Children

CatPoke is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
